Dalton Cyr

An old soul who expresses himself beyond his years, award-winning singer, songwriter, musician, actor & recording artist Dalton Cyr released his debut 11-song LP album, entirely written or co-written by Cyr, in August 2012, just two weeks after his 12th birthday.

Cyr released his second CD, “A New Day” with new songs co-written by Cyr  and recorded in both L.A. and Nashville. In L.A. Cyr worked with multi-platinum producer Paul Fox (10,000 Maniacs, Rod Stewart, REM, Ziggy Marley, Phish, XTC, etc.).  Cyr worked with an all-star cast of musicians including Josh Freese on drums (Sting, Guns-n-Roses, Nine Inch Nails, DEVO, The Vandals, Dixie Chicks, etc.) and Aron Forbes (X-Factor band and Music Director for One Direction). In Nashville, Cyr worked with recording artist, songwriter and producer, Bobby Amaru (Saliva) and Nolan Neal (Hinder).

Selected by international talent scouts as one of the 20 most talented songwriters aged 12-18 from around the world, he was the 2013 Prodigy Camp Scholarship recipient and was named one of the world’s most promising songwriters by industry professionals. The Prodigy Camp allowed him to work with award winning songwriters, writers, directors and film producers. It was here that the acting bug bit Cyr and he began acting in short films. He is now also pursuing a duel career in film and TV.

Dalton Cyr who had to overcome severe stage fright, discovered he could sing after making up his mind to audition for a local production of “Willy Wonka”.

“I saw a friend in a play the year before and decided I wanted to do that. So I wrote  “Get into play” as one of my goals for the year. But when it came time to audition I was terrified. As it turned out, I had to sing to be a part of the play—even if I just wanted to be a stagehand. I really wanted to be in the play, so my dad and my music teacher at school helped me by setting up a microphone and headphones so I could hear myself sing. I practiced for hours and my mom and dad encouraged me. Then I tried out and got the part of Mike Teavee.”

Cyr began taking voice lessons a week later and did his first solo performance two months later at the County Fair, just 3 months before his 10th birthday.  Discovering he loved performing, Cyr performed 50 shows in his first year.

A few months after his tenth birthday, Cyr wrote his first song for a school competition. After winning at the school level, district level and state level, he began writing more songs and was approached by a music producer to work with him and record his music.

“It was expensive to get recording studio time, but my parents told me I could give it a try and let me record two songs, just to see how it went.”

Shortly after recording, Cyr attended NSAI’s National Songwriting Conference in Nashville as the youngest songwriter where hit songwriters such as James Dean Hicks and Rick Beresford reviewed his songs and gave him rave reviews.

“After returning from the NSAI event, my parents helped me create music videos out of those two songs and posted them on YouTube to see if anyone else in the industry would have similar things to say.”

Cyr’s videos quickly caught the attention of several high profile industry people, and so he began working on more songs.

Possessing mature and prolific songwriting skills, he released a 5-song EP and his first-ever recorded single, co-written by Cyr when he was ten, was a semi-finalist in the 2011 International Songwriting Competition, judged by the most high-profile judging panel of any music competition in the world. His debut 11-song LP album, “I’ll Be There” was entirely written or co-written by Cyr when he was age 10 and 11, recorded when he was 11 and released just two weeks after his 12th birthday. In December of 2014, he released his second EP, “A New Day” and his first Christmas single, “Christmas Time With You” which hit the top 100 on the charts across ALL Radio for New Christmas Songs.
