MATT ROGERS is a passionate political professional with years of experience working for state and federal candidates up and down the ballot in a plethora of roles. From running petition operations, to raising campaign funds, introducing legislation, or knocking doors, Matt has done it all. One of his guiding principles is a quote from one of America’s foremost aviation pioneers, Lawrence D. Bell, “Show me a man who cannot bother to do little things and I’ll show you a man who cannot be trusted to do big things.”
College classmates of his remember him all around campus in the sun or rain asking, “Are you registered to vote at your current address?” and not letting them pass without getting an answer. Since the very beginning of his career, activating young people to be consistent voters has been the central theme. Whether it was serving as President of the Young Democrats on his college campus or taking young politicos under his wing to guide them, it’s undeniable that he believes the hard, grueling work of self-government is more than worth the price.
After the election of Donald Trump, like many, Matt did a great deal of soul-searching to determine what more he could do to make sure the embarrassing lack of youth voter participation in elections never repeats itself. Through collaboration with his wife, Jasmine Rogers, they together decided to begin Politidope as an outlet to spark youth participation in the political process through relatable content and targeted appearances.
Politics doesn’t have be done the same way it always has. We, the People get to decide what the new normal is. Conversely, if we don’t decide, someone will decide for us — which we see can have disastrous consequences.
